Bushcraft Medical by Nick @ Black Flag Survival!
First Aid and Trauma kits are vital life saving tools for many people in a variety of lines of work and activities. When it comes to the those of us the live, work, or play in the great outdoors, there are a tremendous amount of prefab kits on the market, and many of these do contain the supplies you need to handle most bumps and scrapes and maybe a few emergency situations, but pretty much every kit I bought (there were many) were lacking in what can be considered true life saving equipment.
There could be a lot of reasons for this, I feel that there are two primary reasons; cost control and lack of training on the part of the consumer. Simply stated, you get what you pay for. Cheap kits are cheap because they lack quality supplies; any one who is well versed in quality medkits knows that good equipment can get expensive fast!
The second reason is the general lack of training. More advanced life-saving equipment requires some level of training, either professional or personally researched and practiced. A majority of outdoors people lack training (which is something I am working very hard to change) and kit manufacturers know this, so they create inexpensive kits with basic supplies that cover many minor injuries. While something is better than nothing, I argue that inexpensive kits and lack of training give people a false sense of security when venturing into the great outdoors.
I began working with Survival Med late last year, a fantastic physician owned and operated company that seeks to make Wilderness First Aid as accessible as possible through online classes at very reasonable prices. This really resonated with my goal of bringing emergency medical training to the forefront of the outdoor and bushcraft communities. I wanted to take it one step further and get the equipment people need out there as well, and collaborating with Active Carry Technologies was the perfect opportunity to do thathttps://blackflagsurvival.com/brand-partners/
